“All work is started on site and the journey itself to the individual locations can take many days and finding places can be difficult but worth it. Back in the studio, the individual drawings call to me at different times, I might go back to a work five years later, and then a further two years continuing until I get the image I want. I am a great believer that drawing is always the way forward and everything develops from it. My drawings are my finished pieces they are not studies made towards the development of paintings.”

Description

Dave Gunning has work in many collections worldwide. The most prestigious being The Palace of Westminster, National Museum of Wales, and the Queen’s collection at Windsor. He has exhibited widely over four decades and has many major commissions under his belt. He has made ‘on-site’ drawings in many parts of the word and still continues to do so. The drawings in this collection are works that have been worked on repeatedly until the artist gets what he wants. This can involve many hours of work spanning over a lot of years.
