Description
The main reason to encourage teasels to grow in our garden is to lure in a charm of goldfinches. They are the most delightful birds with their clown red-daubed faces and pop of golden yellow on their wings. And yes, I have stolen the title of an iconic William Morris design, “Strawberry Thief” featuring thrushes.
This design is one of a pair of prints in a narrow, tall format popular in traditional Japanese printmaking.
I collaged my etching print of the birds and teasels onto an abstracted hedgerow-jungle background to make this mixed media painting on board.
