Paracosm III
Child’s building blocks, screenprint, shellac
Emma Jackson’s Paracosm III continues her exploration of memory, imagination, and personal narrative. This unframed, wall-mounted assemblage invites the viewer into a constructed world built from childhood remnants. Through layered screenprint and shellac, the work explores how past experiences linger, morph, and inform identity.

About the Artist Emma Jackson
Emma Jackson is a contemporary artist and printmaker living and working in Manchester. Her evocative and richly layered work explores memory, narrative, and the psychological landscapes we inhabit—both real and imagined.
After completing a BA in Design at Blackpool, Emma spent nearly two decades working within the creative industries before returning to her own artistic practice. In 2017, she undertook postgraduate study at Manchester Metropolitan University, earning an MA in Printmaking with Distinction in 2019. Since then, she has exhibited widely across the UK, garnering increasing recognition for her emotionally resonant and conceptually complex works.
Her studio base at Hot Bed Press in Salford is central to her practice, providing the creative environment and technical facilities to explore the full expressive potential of printmaking. In 2024, Emma was awarded a Prize at the Ironbridge Fine Arts Printmaking Competition, and in 2025, she presents new work as part of our Summer Exhibition. She is also an Associate Member of Manchester Academy of Fine Arts.
Artistic PracticeEmma’s work is rooted in an enduring fascination with how we process experience—particularly the ephemeral moments that often go unspoken but leave lasting imprints on our sense of self. Through recurring themes of absence, loss, memory, and the archive, she reconstructs personal and collective histories with a sensitivity that invites deep reflection.
Using found objects, family archives, and symbolic landscapes as touchstones, Emma navigates the layered territory between memory and imagination. Printmaking plays a central role in this inquiry, offering her both the structural tension and tactile immediacy needed to reflect the fragility and permanence of remembrance. Her imagery often carries theatrical qualities—rich in mood and suggestion—drawing inspiration from her passion for performance and audience experience.
Whether working in intaglio, relief, or experimental processes, Emma’s visual language is contemplative and immersive. Her landscapes serve as liminal spaces—places where the past is reassembled and reinterpreted, and where silence can speak volumes.

We bought a Little Thumper press from Ironbridge and spent a fantastic morning with Jenny and the team, learning how to use it. A great experience all round that really gave us some great ideas for our prints, and a brilliant location too.Posted on Google![]()

I have been using Ironbridge Fine Arts and Framing for many years, specifically to get high resolution scans and giclee prints of my original artwork. Their customer service is absolutely faultless, they go above and beyond to ensure I am 100% happy and are always willing to spend time discussing my requirements in detail. They have provided invaluable advice and service when my images are enlarged for exhibitions and commissions, giving me peace of mind that I will still get superb quality even if my images are enlarged to an extreme size . I unreservedly recommend Ironbridge Fine Arts and Framing to other Artists.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
