Industrial Echoes – The Abandoned AGA Factory Series
is a solar plate photogravure by Jenny Mason-Gunning, produced as part of her ongoing Abandoned AGA Factory series — a body of work inspired by the haunting interior spaces of the Aga Rayburn factory.
This piece captures the factory not as a functioning site of industry, but as a place suspended in time. Empty structures, worn surfaces, and architectural fragments become echoes of labour and presence, held in stillness long after the work has ceased.
Working at approximately A4 scale, Jenny uses the photogravure process to translate photographic detail into rich tonal depth. The solar plate allows for delicate shifts between soft greys and deep velvety blacks, creating an image that feels both precise and atmospheric.
The Abandoned AGA Factory series explores this remarkable place through multiple techniques — etching, aquatint, photogravure and experimental approaches — each one revealing a different emotional register of the space.
