Description
Brought up in rural Cumbria Alan has always had an affinity with nature so wildlife, landscapes and the amazing miniature world of insects and plants all have a particular draw and almost limitless possibilities to explore.
A little early serendipity gave Mason some encouraging wildlife shots that fired his enthusiasm and a desire to see how far he could go with his new found hobby – not just to capture the moment but, as someone has said, “to see the picture in the moment.”
Of all nature’s wonders sunrises and sunsets are a particular passion because no two are ever the same and the amazing colours and effects the changing light produces as day moves into night or vice versa are an absolute joy to behold whilst the challenge of capturing something so transient and shifting in a way that others can, hopefully, enjoy the same experience is awesome.
“Photography”, says Alan,, “has made me see things in a new and different way. From the grand majesty of sunsets over mountains to the tiny world of insects and plants it’s like re-discovering an almost childlike wonder at the world in which we live and, like a child, I have so much to learn about capturing that wonder and sharing it with others. I started late but I hope the wonder never fades even if I can’t capture it all.”
