Drusilla Cole
Border Windows, Newtown
Reduction Linocut
Edition size 9
40 x 30 cm
I was inspired to create this linocut of an abandoned building in the middle of Newtown, Powys which once held the small manufacturing firm of Border Windows Ltd. Their name can just be made out on the frontage, and examples of their stained glass still fill the small windows above the big doors. Apparently before this it used to be a fire station, hence the big red bell in the middle. I used caustic soda to give texture to the crumbling stonework.
