Description
I was born in Cardiff rather a long time ago and moved to London when I was a child. I have since lived in Oman, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia for a while before finally settling down in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
Like most artists, I was never happier than when I had a pencil or paintbrush in my hand and to now spend my days in my garden studio drawing wildlife and pets is, for me, the perfect life.
I am largely self-taught but having mainly only worked in Black and White before discovering the beauty and variety of artists quality coloured pencils. I took a few tutorials to learn what was to me, a new medium. Over the years I have dabbled in various media – from oils and acrylics, through water colour, pen and ink, pastels and even pottery before finally settling down with colour pencils and pastels. I love nature in all its forms – apart from arachnids – and my preferred subjects are wildlife and domestic pets and birds. I love the fine detail I can obtain with pencils enabling me to depict the texture and intricacy of fur and feathers. Over the years I have received commissions for pet portraits as well as wildlife, mainly Bid Cats, and have shown my work in various local shops and galleries.
I have also had work published three times in Ann Kulberg’s Color Magazine and am one of the artists currently working on a book project, hopefully to be published later this year, for Ann Kulberg, an American publisher. I am also working on a tutorial which is due to be published in the July issue of CP Magic – a digital magazine showcasing colour pencil artists, and my drawing of the little fat robin – ‘And We Shall Have Snow’ – will be published in the April issues of Leisure Painter and The Artist magazines. No.61 Mardol, Shrewsbury also holds some of my animal drawings and prints.
