Industrial towers, strange balloon like objects and silver streaks in the sky speak of a civilisation not yet imagined.
SERIES DESCRIPTION
As with many of my artworks a colour or a particular piece of material will provide the starting point and I just follow wherever that leads, no plan, no preconceptions. In this series the pale, watery blue background was my starting point which brought to mind a bleak wintery sky. This lead to the laying down of the striped tissue paper and an other-worldly landscape started to appear. Maybe it’s a post-apocalyptic dystopian earth in the year 2058. Or maybe it’s another planet colonised by humans of the future.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ali Wright is a Shropshire-based mixed media artist, colorist, and textile designer, renowned for her vibrant, joyful, and uplifting artworks. With a successful career in the creative industries, Ali now divides her time between her UK studio and global travel, drawing inspiration from diverse cultures and landscapes. Her mastery of color brings a unique energy to her pieces, which often evoke a sense of positivity and warmth.
Ali is a Freeman of the City of London, Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Marketors, a Fellow of the RSA, and holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Textile and Surface Design. In 2021, her mixed media piece “It Takes a Village” was featured in the prestigious Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Ali’s work continues to inspire, offering a fresh perspective on the world around her.
