After much deliberation about which size of press to go for, I plumped for the No 2 as it would be more flexible for me to go up in size if I needed.
There is a nice link to Ironbridge Fine Arts & Framing as Dave Gunning once taught many of my A Level art students how to make etchings and how to print successfully. I have never forgotten those happy times so it felt right to choose one of Dave’s presses now that I am working as a print-maker as well as a teacher still!
The press is just beautiful as an object, and sits in our living room/studio even when not in use. It is beautifully made and I love its fluidity as a press, it operates so smoothly and subtle changes in the height of the roller are easy and it was a breeze to put together and get printing!
As I work from a home studio at the moment, the fact that I can remove the star wheel and print bed very swiftly, it gives flexibility for our use and was also a deciding factor over other presses I looked at.
I have printed, lino, dry-point, collagraph on the press so far and the results are fantastic.
I am thrilled to have my own press finally & she is a joy to use! I teach adult workshops too & all of my students line up to use it, they love it too!
Highly recommended!
