Coming Spring 2026 – Rob Leckey RBSA
Mixed Media, Experimentation and the Spirit of Place
We are delighted to welcome back Rob Leckey RBSA to Ironbridge Fine Arts for our Spring Exhibition 2026, presenting a vibrant selection of his mixed-media works. Leckey’s practice is defined by a restless inventiveness, combining acrylic paint, ink, collage, and found materials with oil and chalk pastels to create compositions that are rich in texture, colour, and layered meaning. By incorporating elements such as tissue paper, newsprint, and magazine illustrations, he transforms everyday materials into dynamic, tactile surfaces that resonate with both spontaneity and careful observation.
At the heart of Leckey’s work is a commitment to experimentation. His subjects—boats, harbors, and landscapes from Shropshire, Scotland, and Wales, as well as urban townscapes—serve as points of departure, but the emphasis lies in the unpredictable discoveries that emerge through process. Layers, textures, and marks interact in ways that are often unexpected, capturing the rhythm, light, and atmosphere of each scene while allowing the medium itself to assert a presence.
Leckey’s impressionistic approach combines immediacy with depth. Each piece celebrates both the physicality of materials and the fleeting qualities of observation, offering viewers a sense of place that is lively, intimate, and distinctly personal. His work exemplifies the tension between control and chance, composition and improvisation, resulting in artworks that are visually engaging, texturally complex, and emotionally resonant.
The Spring Exhibition 2026 will present a thoughtfully curated selection of Rob Leckey’s works, inviting audiences to explore the intersections of place, material, and process, and to experience the vibrant energy and poetic inventiveness that characterises his practice.
