Printmaker and Visual Artist Exploring Place, Memory, and Material

Jacqui Dodds is a printmaker whose work draws deeply on the layered histories and textures of the built and natural environment. With a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, she has developed a practice that combines observation, memory, and meticulous craft, exploring towns, cities, and rural landscapes alike. Walking and recording her surroundings, Jacqui is drawn to architecture, bridges, objects, and subtle natural elements, often framing her subjects from unexpected angles or focusing on fleeting details. These encounters are translated back in the studio through silkscreen, linocut, and blind embossing, distilling her experiences into prints that balance structure and atmosphere, surface and light. Colour plays a central role in her silkscreens, whether restrained or vibrant, while her blind embossed works rely entirely on form, texture, and shadow, revealing nuanced details of the landscapes she observes.

An active member of Birmingham Printmakers, Wrexham Print Centre, and re:collect, Jacqui’s work has been recognised through Arts Council England and Shropshire Council-funded projects, including commissions for Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery, a touring Cabinet of Curiosity, and exhibitions marking the start and end of the First World War. In 2016, she was one of four artists invited to collaborate with BPN Architects in Birmingham, exhibiting Reveal, Conceal, a series of screen prints inspired by the Jewellery Quarter’s architecture. Alongside her studio practice, Jacqui shares her expertise through print workshops at Birmingham Printmakers and Westhope College, as well as in schools, museums, and heritage venues, nurturing curiosity and technical skill in both young and established artists.

In Jacqui’s prints, the dialogue between human-made and natural forms, between observation and memory, invites viewers into quiet, contemplative spaces—works that are as technically exacting as they are emotionally resonant. The Spring 2026 Exhibition offers the opportunity to experience her subtle, layered approach firsthand, revealing the extraordinary in the everyday landscapes around us.
