“Within a painting there is a narrative, it can be a character that may have had a shared experience or emotional state. I am able to explore these moments, feelings, these flickers of wonderment through oils. The figurative form is the perfect platform to explore different stories for example a face can show emotion, the way a person holds themselves can say a lot without actually saying a word. Through art history storytelling can be found within the frame by the little mementos that are described from a flower, that’s meaning has changed, to a love note in a mistress’s hand. These little objects build like Lego blocks to create a piece that we as an audience read and take with us. Within my practice I try to tell stories, I share experiences and I ask questions. But I leave it to you to work those out.”
We look forward to exhibiting Hannah’s work at Ironbridge Fine Arts!
