Meet Jenny Gunning, a specialist printmaker who has curated a stunning printmaking studio situated at the heart of the World Heritage Site in Ironbridge. With her family by her side, Jenny has meticulously designed and built this extraordinary space, equipped to handle any type of plate and accommodate a diverse range of printmaking techniques. Meanwhile, her sister runs their incredible gallery, showcasing Jenny’s work alongside other talented Printmakers, while her husband, Dave, designs and builds the presses that form the backbone of their operation.

Jennys Printmaking Studio in Ironbridge Shropshire, features an array of Gunning Etching Presses, from compact models to larger, geared, direct drive, and motorized variants, Jenny seamlessly demonstrates their capabilities during the press demonstrations and workshops.
Jenny’s lifelong dedication to printmaking shines through her work. With a journey that began at the age of 7, she has honed her craft over the years, sharing her expertise through workshops, teaching sessions, and exhibitions worldwide. Jenny’s passion for printmaking and her unwavering enthusiasm for the fine art of printmaking is evident in every aspect of her work. Moreover, her beautiful prints are permanently exhibited on the walls of her family run printmaking gallery and studio.

Meet Dave M-Gunning, (better known as Dave M-G) a specialist engineer and printmaker whose journey into the world of printmaking began while serving in the Royal Air Force. Intrigued by the fusion of engineering with hands-on creativity, Dave quickly became immersed in Printmaking and press building.
As Jenny’s father, Dave Gunning, sought to pass on the legacy, Dave M-G was entrusted to carry forward the tradition. Since 2015, Dave M-G has worked alongside Jenny, refining and enhancing the design of the Gunning etching presses. In 2019, he assumed full responsibility, revolutionizing the presses’ construction for greater efficiency and introducing geared and motorized options. Beyond presses, Dave meticulously handcrafts various printmaking essentials, from hotplates to washout booths, demonstrating his commitment to excellence in every aspect of printmaking. Additionally, he oversees delivery and setup, ensuring customers receive unparalleled service and support.

From the tender age of 14, when his works first graced the Royal Academy, to his accolades as a teen, he’s demonstrated exceptional talent. With a career highlighted by more than 70 exhibitions globally, his name is synonymous with innovation and excellence in art.
His contributions to esteemed collections, including the Royal Collection, affirm his status as a luminary in the field. Notably, the Gunning etching press, which he designed in the 1970s, revolutionised the industry, marrying art with unparalleled precision.
Dave is prolific and his artwork spans a vibrant spectrum from hand-painted pieces to etched polished steel, resonating with both the public and private sectors. His life, work, and ethos, reflect a dedication that transcends the act of creation, securing his place as not just a master printmaker but a custodian of the printmaking heritage.
