During the etching press demo we print from ours or your plates, and we can print any plate that you can print on our multi-printing presses, including
Dry-points, etchings, solar plates, collagraphs, monoprints, monotypes any thickness of woodblocks, linos, reductions, Japanese ply, Photo-Etchings, Lithography, carborundum, photopolymer, mezzotint, letterpress and anything in between.
- We will show you the different press sizes and options and determine what suits you best for your practice.
- You will be able to see our beautiful Gallery and Printmaking workshops.
- During the etching press demo, you will be able to set the pressure on the press and feel how the press prints, and how quick and easy it is to set and pull through, with or without gears.
- You will be shown that the Gunning press needs very little maintenance due to its stainless steel top roller and self-lubricating bearings
- We will show you how to set the pressure for all thicknesses of plates, how to print single colour, how to register your plates, and how to print reduction and multi-plate.
- We will use the paper, ink and rollers of your choice to match your practice.

After setting up your press in your studio, Dave will print with you, using either your plates or ours. We always bring along a variety of ink brands and paper, ensuring you can work with the ink you’re familiar with. Additionally, we provide paper, water baths, and an array of plates suitable for printing on the press, including:

Your Gunning etching press is carefully packaged in parts and secured in a crate for delivery.

Your press will be delivered on a convenient date. Please note that we cannot specify an exact delivery time, but will ensure that the crate is marked with your contact details, opening times, and any specific delivery instructions you provide.

The instruction manual covers everything from setup to advanced printing techniques. However, if you have any questions or need assistance, even years from now, we’re just a phone call or email away.

We can arrange a date and time that suits you and then you can come and pick up from us. Jenny M-Gunning will give you a free walk-through of the press and we dismantle it in front of you, wrapping it and packing it into your car for you, so you will know how it goes back together when you return to your studio.
Or you can have a printmaking workshop using your new printing press with Jenny in our printmaking studios so that you can print all the different thicknesses of plates on your new press and get used to changing the pressure and get used to using your new printing press.
