How do we frame your Wedding Dress?
Your wedding will be one of the happiest days of your life. Regardless of how much you spend on your wedding dress, it is a sentimental gown that you should protect to remember your big day! We can frame dresses of all shapes and sizes, so whether you’ve opted for a sleek mermaid gown or big princess dress, we can frame it perfectly.
Framing your wedding dress does so much more than just giving it a nice display; the frame protects your dress from damaging air pollutants, UV lighting and any other damage that could occur. To properly protect your gown for years to come, it is important you trust the professionals. We know how special your dress is, so it can be difficult to trust it in someone else’s hands. Below you can read all about how we frame your wedding dress, so can be assured that it is looked after from start to finish.
The first thing we do is offer you a consultation. Here we show you the museum mount boards that we have available in a range of colours. All of our mounts are made from 100% cotton fibre and are free from acid, lignin, sulphur and optical brightening agents, all of which can cause damage to your dress. Our mount boards all pass the Silver Tarnish and Photographic activity test. These specifications allow us to preserve your dress in the best environment, attached to the highest quality materials.
After consultation, we discuss the different choices of single and double mounts available to you. Here you can select a secondary colour to be used on your mount if you wish. You can also add a moulding slip, which will help set off and enhance a feature on your dress. Visualisation is important. This is why we lay your dress out on a large mount board to allow you to choose the angle and expanse of how the dress will lie. This is where we work with care to show off the best features of the dress, showing it at its very best. We can even add veils, buttonholes, jewelry and much more!
- Mock Up
After you have made your selections and are happy with the visualisation, we use chevron samples to mock up the finalised design. Careful consideration is given to both your dress and the display area, to ensure the best possible results.
We have a wide range of glazing available that offers different levels of protection to your dress. We would always recommend glass that offers 99% UV protection as this can cause irreversible damage to your dress.
After all of these steps have been completed, we can provide you with a complete quote, valid for 3 months. Once you give us the go ahead, your beautiful dress will be ready for display within 4-6 weeks.
We love helping brides capture their special day by preserving their dress for years to come. It is something that we take great pride in, so complete every step with the utmost care. We also offer a wide range of other sentimental framing services including framing orders of service and even your wedding flowers!
