When framing a piece of artwork there are a number of things to take into consideration including (but not exclusively)
– The medium and style of artwork
Is the artwork on a canvas that needs restretching or would it suit a canvas frame? Is the artwork a cross-stitch where the artwork needs to be attached to a piece of board?
– Methods of preservation and protection required
Is the artwork of value or of sentimental value and needs to be protected? Your artwork could be framed to museum standard also known as level 1 conservation the highest standard of materials to protect your artwork or Level 2 conservation an alternative version with a broader range of variety and more affordable.
– Location you will want to hang the piece considering lighting and decor
Will the artwork be going in a sunlit room? Sunlight can have an effect on your artwork over time however with the right glass and protection we can slow down or possibly prevent your artwork from fading over time.
– The customer’s own personal preferences and taste
Do you have a theme within the room your piece will be hung? Maybe you have a color scheme to match? A wallpaper that’s sitting behind the piece that needs complementing? We recommend bringing swatched of your wall colours, wallpaper any images of your room, and a mood board if you have it. We can then work with you in a personal framing consultation to find the best molding and mountboard options to use on your piece.
– Price range/budget
