Washline mounts are traditionally used with watercolour paintings, drawn in hand and using carefully chosen colours to balance and enhance the artwork. The choice of colour and design is unlimited allowing us to perfectly complement the artwork.
The cross-hinged ruling pen holds ink and slowly releases it as it is drawn. Any combination of lines can be used but they are normally finished with a washline which is the colour applied between two lines.
Washeslines are when color is applied to the mount board itself. A wash involves applying a thin, even layer of watercolor or similar medium to the surface of the mat board, creating a subtle coloration that complements the artwork. The color of the wash can be chosen to either contrast with or complement the colors in the artwork. Washes can add depth and richness to the presentation of the artwork and can help to tie together the colors used in the framing.
