Customer review

Edge Fine Art, specialises in original British art
from the 20th century and has been using Ironbridge Fine Arts & Framing for several
years. We would just like to say thank you to Jenny and Molly for their professionalism,
warmth, and most importantly, their patience.

Choosing the perfect frame to show off an original
piece of art can be a time consuming process but Jenny and Molly are always
extremely helpful, their expert knowledge and useful suggestions are much appreciated.

Good quality framing should enhance any picture and
help to conserve the work. By using Ironbridge
Fine Arts & Framing
we always get the quality and attention to detail
that we need.

And of course it is always nice to meet people who are
as enthusiastic about art as we are. It is always a pleasure doing business
with them .

Etching using steel and Nitric Acid

Monday, October 24th, 2011

Have you ever worked for ages on a drawing into hard ground – etched the plate for 45 minutes 3 water to 1 acid and wiped off the ground and nothing or hardly anything is there!!

Possible reasons – the obvious is that the acid has burnt itself out or that the steel is not Mild Steel – the less obvious is that your supplier has supplied you with Mild Steel that has a film on it.   Unless it has happened to you before you would not be able to spot it! well that has just happened to me and I have been etching since I was 7 years old!! I will have to remove the film by polishing the surface and then starting again and making sure I buy proper mild steel next time!
